PUBLICATION AGREEMENT

This Publication Agreement (“Agreement”) is entered into between You Can’t Chart This (“Publisher”) and the undersigned contributor (“Contributor”).

This Agreement applies only to stories selected by the Publisher for publication.

1. Selection for Publication

The Publisher has elected to publish the Contributor’s submitted story.

Publication remains subject to the terms of this Agreement.

2. Grant of Rights

The Contributor grants the Publisher an exclusive, worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable license to:

  • Publish the story.

  • Edit the story.

  • Reproduce the story.

  • Distribute the story.

  • Display the story.

  • Sell the story as part of books, ebooks, audiobooks, websites, digital publications, marketing materials, promotional materials, and future editions published under the You Can’t Chart This brand.

This license includes existing and future publishing formats and technologies.

3. Editorial Rights

The Publisher may edit the story for:

  • Grammar

  • Formatting

  • Readability

  • Privacy

  • Style

  • Length

The Publisher agrees not to intentionally alter the fundamental meaning of the Contributor’s story.

4. Contributor Representations

The Contributor represents and warrants that:

  • The story is original.

  • The Contributor has the legal right to grant the rights contained in this Agreement.

  • The story does not knowingly violate another person’s rights.

  • Identifying information has been removed to the best of the Contributor’s ability.

5. Compensation

Unless otherwise stated in writing:

The Contributor acknowledges that publication is voluntary.

The Contributor understands they will receive no royalties, profit sharing, or future compensation from sales of any publication containing the story.

6. Credit

Unless otherwise agreed:

The Publisher may publish the story:

  • Anonymously

  • Under a pseudonym

  • Using a first name only

  • Using another credit approved by both parties

7. Future Editions

The rights granted under this Agreement include:

  • Revised editions

  • Anniversary editions

  • Collections

  • Box sets

  • Ebooks

  • Audiobooks

  • Promotional excerpts

  • Website publication

  • Social media promotion

  • Marketing materials

8. Withdrawal

Once this Agreement has been executed and publication has occurred, the Contributor understands that the Publisher may continue to distribute previously published editions.

9. No Partnership

Nothing in this Agreement creates a partnership, employment relationship, or joint venture between the Contributor and the Publisher.

10. Governing Law

This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of West Virginia.

11. Entire Agreement

This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between the parties regarding publication of the Contributor’s story.

Any modifications must be made in writing and signed by both parties.
